This whole Jon and Kate "scandal" is spiraling out of control in my opinion. Its just something that has really been bothering me since that first cover of Jon in the car with a strange woman in that first gossip magazine. Its not just because I happen to enjoy that show and it bothers me to see what I perceived as a happy family now seeming to have their "fame" go to their head. But what's really bothering me with Jon and Kate getting smeared across gossip covers everywhere are their kids. The young ones are too young to really understand, but I can easily see Cara and Maddy knowing a lot about what's going on and having to hear it from school. And, I know, its sadly apart of fame. But they were never in the tabloids until recently.

Which is why I'm think its all a ploy to get more viewers for their season premiere this week. It was always something that tickled in the back of my mind, but as I was watching reruns yesterday of the show, they had commercials for the upcoming new season that's premiering this week.

"Jon and Kate face each other for the first time" its an extended HOUR?? I'm sorry guys, I have trouble believing this whole spiel is all reality, and they're not milking something for ratings on their show. I would just think they'd want to keep it all on the down low as much as possible for the sake of their kids. They say they're trying to do what's best for them, but honestly, how can that be true? Filming them like they do and airing them growing up on TV is almost bad enough, but this? You have articles in magazines talking about how Kate has gone from TV Mom to Monster. 3 PAGES of slandering her name, talking about how much of a diva she is, how she thinks she's some hot shot celebrity. And I'm not sitting here trying to defend Kate, I don't really like the woman all too much, but that's not something that needs to be smeared all over the place for her KIDS to find and for her KIDS to hear about.

Ultimately I blame Jon and Kate for all this. People are looking at Jon as the victim, but he's willingly going on camera for TLC to talk. He could always choose not to be apart of it. And I can't help but think if this whole marriage problem were something that was truly real, they'd want to keep it out of the press, and work through it on their own.

But there's me being an optimist.
14th-Apr-2009 04:55 pm - Lost in Blue to Play at Powerfest
Well Lost in Blue finally got some of the recognition they damn well deserve. They entered Metal Wars 2 this month, where it was determined if they'd get to compete through online voting. They won second place, earning them the 2nd to last spot this past Saturday night at Schaumburg's City Limits. They played what was quite possibly one of their greatest shows, and overall we are all just excited that they won 2nd place via the website! All of us Lost in Blue followers have always known how great of a band they are, but we've grown used to dissapointment with competitions, since no one seems to give an instrumental band a 2nd glance.

Boy we were wrong this time. Lost in Blue took 1st place at Saturday's show earning them the opening spot at Powerfest this year, a 32hr contract of studio time, and more. I can't even begin to express how proud and excited I am for them. Partly because my brother's the bassist and cousin is the drummer, but they're so talented musically that its always been heart breaking to see them passed by due to their lack of a singer, and metal not being the "it" thing in today's music genre.

For more information about the show visit: http://www.buzznews.net/music/music-news/700-lost-in-blue-takes-metal-wars-2-crown

Powerfest is May 8th in Mokena, IL. I will relay more information as I find out more.

Its difficult to think that tonight my DVR won't be recording the new Battlestar Galactica that I'll be missing due to hanging out with friends. That it won't be there waiting for me to watch. I wasn't one that started right from the beginning, but the show caught me hook line and sinker from the mini-series on.

I'm not really sure if I'm ready to discuss my final thoughts on the final episode. (I mean everyone else in the world has) I think I'm just sorta in denial right now, and trying to pretend that there will be another episode for me to watch. The show did wrap up with closure. They answered most of our questions. The Kara Thrace mystery was never given a clear cut answer, but we were given enough clues to draw to a specific conclusion, which I like. I don't always like having everything hand fed to me. Its irritating and cuts any sort of discussion short once its over.

I just... I just am going to miss Baltar's antics. Baltar talking with Head!6. Caprica talking with Head!Baltar (even if that only happened a handful of episodes) Helo's god damn hotness everytime he came onto the screen. Chief trying so god damn hard to find SOME happiness in life and life always sucker punching him. Tigh's drunken antics and resolve to stay true to who he was even after finding out he was a cylon. Adama's resolve to get the fleet through it, no matter how many break downs he had during the 4th season. He always got himself together and pushed through for the sake of the fleet. Hell I'm even going to miss Roslin even though she didn't do much this last half of the season besides get sicker and abandon the gods.

You ended quietly Battlestar Galactica. You ended quietly and, in my opinion, with dignity. Others may have been unhappy with this season but I can't find it in myself to be mad. Sure Ron Moore wrote this without any sort of plan. Sure some storylines were sloppily fixed or just abandoned due to this type of writing. But it never deterred from what the heart of the show was, which was the character. How there is no black and white, everyone is good everyone is bad, and life just moves on with or without you, someway or another.

At least I get to see Helo in Dollhouse... no matter how odd it is seeing him in regular clothes and not a military uniform or rack outfit.
20th-Mar-2009 06:58 am - Letter to Macgyver
gaius six love!
Dear Macgyver,

While you were not an anticipated permanent fixture of my life, I must admit you've really grown on me. I am a dog person, not a cat person, and you have pretty much changed my opinions on cats everywhere due to how affectionate you are.

So, while I love you Mr. Kitty we need to get some things straight here.

- 3am is not the time to start playing with your rooster toy. And if you insist on batting that toy around and freaking out over it, please do not do it on my bed. I do not enjoy to waking up to a kitty jumping on my bed that early in the morning.

- While I appreciate that you are a very affectionate kitty, if I'm sleeping on my back, please do not step on top of me and lay on my chest, thrusting your head underneath my chin or on top of my face. I unfortunately need to breathe, and your whiskers tickle my face which does not allow me to fall back asleep.

- When I push you off my chest and roll over on my side, that does not signal for you to climb over me, and shove yourself against me, with your head, again, on top of my face

- When I shove you a bit further away yet again this is not a signal to come and lay on top of my face.

- When I turn over to get away from you and hoping maybe you'll just lean against my back, this does not signal for you to hop over me and repeat the whole process all over again

- Zepplin is not your enemy. In fact he's been ignoring you most of the time, and the few times he does come up to you he's only sniffing and play bowing. If you scratch him across the face he'll quit it

- My feet are not your cat toys, stop attacking them under the covers

- The door frame is not your fixed scratching post. You have a kitty tree, use it

- Please stop trying to kill me in the morning while I'm trying to get ready for work by weaving in between my legs meowing your little head off.

- If I'm at my computer you're welcome to hop onto my desk, but please stop laying on the following:

My arms

The keyboard

The mouse

You're welcome to lay on my lap or on the side of the mouse.

- If I try and nudge you to the side this does not mean you stand up in front of the monitor and rub your back and tail against my face

- Yes water is fun to play with, but this does not mean any liquid is fair game for you. My cups especially are off limits to you, so I'd appreciate it if you'd stop sticking your paw in them and sometimes knocking them over and breaking them. I also do not enjoy stepping in puddles of water from you sploshing your water all over the place.

I think if we work on these things together Macgyver we'll be better off for it. So yes while some of these things are very cute and endearing, maybe we should try and tone them down a bit hrmmm?

So upon reflection I may have jumped the gun a bit on the "tramp stamp" tattoo. (This is why people mull and reflect on tattoos rather than running out and getting it at the first impulse)

Anyways, under the cut are different variations. I still want a few more voices of input before I make a firm decision on this 2nd tattoo idea, and thanks so far to everyone who's commented.

Anywho, under a cut since a few pictures and one is nude. (not of me...)

19th-Feb-2009 04:45 pm - Tattoo Idea
So I've been thinking about a tattoo for a very very long time, and I already know the first part I want, which is the kanji symbols down my back. However I've also wanted a tattoo at the small of my back (yeah yeah I know "tramp stamp"), but could never really figure out what I would want.

Well here's a concept I threw together and I just wanted to get everyone's basic opinion. The lines and dots is the constellation for Aries, and the symbol in the middle is the aries symbol.

The kanji symbols are a definite yes. Those at least will get done in April sometime. I'm liking the idea on the bottom but just wanted a general opinion.

Thanks a bunch guys! :D

Wow, a lot of my recent posts are TV related aren't they? Well I guess that gives you peeps a clue as to what I've been doing with my time : )

I have sadly torn through the two video games I received for Christmas; Mirrors Edge and Bioshock. Yeah yeah I know I'm like a year or two behind with Bioshock, but it finally came out for the PS3, and I don't have the money to buy a 360. I tore through Mirrors Edge and, while frustrating, it was an interesting game. It wasn't mind blowing by any stretch of the imagination, but I must admit its tons of fun racing ontop of rooftops, leaping from building to building, running along walls ala Prince of Persia, etc etc. I will admit some sequences got frustrating to pull off to the point where I had to turn off the game and walk away, but once I cooled my head I would eventually be able to do it. The problem is sometimes you have to do a certain move at a precise point, or your splatter on the pavement. I didn't really have much trouble with vertigo either. The only time I got any sort of dizziness is when I shorted a jump by too much and was looking up as I was falling to demise. The story has a lot left to be desired, however the gameplay more than made up for it for me.

Bioshock was, wow. WHERE have I been with this game?? I knew very little of it, which is surprising since it was raved about when first released. I suppose I just never gave it much thought, thinking it was "just another shooter". I've been bitten by the FPS bug recently though, having rented Resistance a few months ago and thoroughly enjoying it. So I figured, why not. Everyone says its a great game, so let's see what all the fuss is about.

Walking blind into that game without even knowing what the story was about was a real treat, and I'm really glad I kept myself oblivious about it. The atmosphere and story just really grabbed me and took me away for two whole days. Yes, I played through that damn game in two days, not being able to put down the forsaken controller. And unlike most games recently I wasn't disappointed by the ending and enjoyed it from beginning to end. Actually am starting to replay it on hard mode, however instead of saving all the Little Sisters I'm now killing them. Wow, seriously. A game has not grabbed me like this since Okami, and a game hasn't made me almost this obsessive since Silent Hill 3 (first Silent Hill game I picked up and played through)

Sorry I got off in a bit of a tangent there. Point was I haven't had the energy to pick FFXII up again and I don't really have anything else to play right now, so I've been watching a lot of TV. Jenny and I have been watching through Battlestar Galactica and its been a huuuuuuge treat to re-visit those episodes again. I forgot how topical this series was to the political world of today. I forgot how character driven this show was. Someone once said, and I think this is very accurate, "There are two kinds of people in this world. People who watch Battlestar Galactica, and people who have yet to watch it".

So nothing on TV tonight, bored out of my skull, not able to get a drawing out to save the life of me, I decided to throw in Razor, a side story of BSG that I had not yet watched, and was told I probably should before watching the last half of the fourth season. While nothing of extreme merit that isn't learned about in 4.0 happens, there are quite a few things brought to light about Admiral Cain and Pegasus. Now, I hated Admiral Cain, and I thought maybe after watching this, I might have a bit more sympathy towards her. Nope. She's still a bitch, and even the event they showed as an "explanation" to why she acted the way she did, still was a bitchy thing. She could have somehow prevented that "tragic" event from happening. But maybe I'm asking too much of a scared teenager, I don't know. So now I'm wide awake surfing for BSG related news, my mind a buzz because the new episode is finally back on air on Friday. I'm trying so very hard to avoid spoilers since apparently someone bought the scripts of some of the final episodes, so there's these huge leaks going around. Dear god, so help me, if someone spoils me they're going to have my fist meet their face. So say we all...

Ha, sorry, another tangent. Completely out of nowhere too. Jen, Dale, and I went to the Obama rally in Chicago on election night. Saw his speech and everything. Anyways near the end of the speech everyone was chanting "Yes we can", and I couldn't help but think back to the fleet chanting "So say we all" after Adama's speech. Yes, obvious nerd is obvious... shut up....

Question: What is this I hear about the remaining Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money episodes airing in the summer? Please tell me it's not true. -- Cliff
Ausiello:
Actually, at this point, we'll be lucky if they air at all. Episode 11 of Daisies was originally scheduled to air tonight, but, per Bryan Fuller, the network dropped it from the schedule at the last minute. "They are not scheduled to air right now," he sighs, "and that's all we know." Let's have a round of applause for network TV!

Fuck you ABC. Fuck you in the god damn fucking ass with a spiked dildo. Its bad enough you're canceling Pushing Daisies, and are going to leave all us fans in the wayside, with glaring plot cliff hangers never solved. But now you may not even finish airing the remaining episodes!??? What the fuck. I don't understand how people get so absorbed in the crap like Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and the 5 millionth Bachelor.

For fuck's sake, I'm glad there's nothing else on ABC I really want to watch so I can happily never go back to that station again.
